“I love you” he uttered gallantly.
I
can’t seem to will myself the first time I heard those three words from him. He
gazes down through his ocean eyes and met the shore of my spectacle. I heard it
over and over like waves from the coast – pushing and ebbing. It began to sound
like a hymn that grips my throat tautly and strangled my head in muddle. I
overstayed my silence with my heart on pause until the words “I love you too” came out from my lips
wistfully. At that moment, I couldn’t tell if I said the right words that came
along with how he actually feels. I knew I meant what I said. But it was a
different kind of love we were proclaiming to each other.
