GIRL BOSS (FEAT. BETHANY AROUTUNIAN)
May 01, 2019, by Notes by Tine
Bethany Aroutunian is a 24
year old Instagram influencer and full-time blogger in Phoenix, Arizona. I
started following her vibrant platform after we connected on Instagram just
last year. Moreover, I have seen her creative side and I thought it would be
a great feature to shed some light on the work she’s been doing and to find out
more about how she built her blog and the online presence to share with you
all.
Bethany grew up in Phoenix
until she was 18 when she decided to move to Los Angeles for a few years. After
all the hustles and learning she’s gone through from moving away, she decided to
fly back to Arizona in 2015 and got married the next year. Her blogging career
started when she was in her last year in college finishing her bachelor’s
degree in communications. Along with her academics, she is also juggling her
job working as a nanny.
“It was great that I was going to be graduating with my bachelor’s degree in communications, but I knew that if I wanted to be able to get a job within my field that I would need to start building some relevant work experience.”
Back in 2016, she started
applying for internships related to social media, hoping to get her career in
track. As luck would have it, a local blogger in Phoenix called Collectively
Candice offered her an internship position. With all the responsibilities she
had in her hands at that time – nanny job, internship and college – she still
manages to do it all at once. The internship immensely helped Bethany build her
personal blog and cultured the ropes of blogging up until she was promoted to
be a blog assistant in a year mark. It was a higher paid position so she was
able to quit nannying and put more of her attention in her career, where she is
very passionate about. In February of this year, new opportunities knock on her
door and so she felt like it was time for her to go on her own way and work on
her blog full time.
“I am so thankful! The past couple of years have definitely been a blessing and I feel so blessed to get to do what I love full time.”
How would you describe
your blog?
I would definitely say it’s a true lifestyle blog because it
kind of covers everything from beauty to style to home to travel to life in
general. I love that it’s broad so that I can share whatever I’m passionate
about at the moment.
Setting aside all the
perks (e.g freebies, events etc), what do you get from blogging?
I love the creative side of blogging. Writing a new blog or
going out and getting new content is definitely something I look forward to
because it’s always another chance to create something special. My favorite
part is coming home with a camera full of new photos that I get to sit down and
edit. There’s just something really fulfilling about creating new content that
inspires and entertains others.
I’ve learned that those hard days are always going to come around but it makes the good days even more rewarding |
You have a big
following on Instagram, how did you build it up?
I would say that my following started growing the most from
networking with other bloggers like myself and working together to grow our
audiences. Engaging with other accounts on Instagram on a daily and consistent
basis is a great way to gain organic engagement for your blog. The more I
networked with other bloggers, the more I was able to grow. I also wrote a
guest blog for my fav podcast, What We Said Podcast hosted by Jaci Marie Smith
and Chelsey Curtis. They promoted my blog on their own platforms which gained
my blog some exposure as well.
What was the most
challenging moment in your blog content development process and why?
I have two! The first is, having to teach myself to not care
so much about what other people think. Putting yourself out there is hard, but
it’s been so worth it. It’s definitely something I’m still working on every
day. The other challenge is, having to be consistently inspired and creative. I
LOVE it, but it’s hard to do all the time. There’s definitely been frustrating
days where I don’t get the content I was hoping for because my vision didn’t
pan out, I didn’t plan enough, I wasn’t feeling creative enough, etc. I’ve
learned that those hard days are always going to come around but it makes the
good days even more rewarding.
What’s the best thing a
blogger can give to her readers?
Inspiration and entertainment! I hope that no matter what I’m
sharing whether it’s my style, favorite beauty products, travel photos, etc.
that it’s been presented in a way that leaves my audience feeling either
inspired, entertained or both!
