MILLENNIAL ON THE GO (FEAT. DIANA PFAFF)

March 03, 2019, by Notes by Tine

Like every young millennial, Diana Pfaff has a zest for life and a huge heart for children. Working in an organization that assists kids with special needs is what makes her busy during most of her days. Not only with the children had she also felt a special bond among her five other siblings. Growing up with parents who were never quite good at their job, Diana is most grateful for her older siblings for raising the rest of them as their bond is carried on through adulthood.

It took me some time to realize it but, at the end of the day the one core thing I have is my family and I now treasure at a high value.”

With a job and family that makes her heart whole comes also a passion within that thrills her the most – Travelling. Diana have been to five different countries namely Peru, Italy, France, Monaco, and Canada; as well as travelled in several places within the United States. Experiencing the cultures, beliefs and lifestyles whenever she is visiting a place have taught her to become more open-minded and an accepting person. It is a kind of passion that surely drives and defines who she is. Diana also talks about how the idea of it will wake her in the middle of the night itching for attention. She describes this feeling citing Jedidiah Jenkins’…”If discontent is your disease, travel is medicine. It resensitizes. It opens you up to see outside the patterns you follow because new places require new learning”.

Travel is huge for me; there is something so beautiful and thrilling about exploring new places.”

How do you keep up with Travelling?
Travel being one of my hobbies isn't exactly cheap to keep up with, so when I'm home I am working as hard as I can to fund my next trip. And that part has always come easy for me. Really it’s simple to think about, I'm motivated to work hard knowing I'm earning money for my next trip. A goal is easy to achieve when you have solid why behind it. I am driven by the pure fact that I know I am the best version of myself when I'm invested and living out my passions.

Do you usually travel with friends/ family or just yourself and what's the best thing about it?
Generally speaking I travel mostly alone. I have done only one family trip as a whole that was to California. I find a lot easier to plan a trip when you only need to worry about yourself, your schedule and budget.  Of course it’s always going to be cheaper to travel with others (because you’re often splitting cost on most things). I’ve learned to love traveling alone because it opens me up and forces me to meet new people. I always feel more present in the moment when I’m alone!

What's the best travel advice that you can share to everyone?
There’s a lot I could say on this question! Just be open to everything, embrace different cultures and people. Try learning as much as possible about that new place you’re in—it will make you a more rounded person. Get uncomfortable!

There is always so exciting when purchasing a ticket or planning for your next big trip. Each person has their own reasons to travel – some travels for work or leisure while others it is just the way of life. Of course, a little vacation is sometimes a good excuse to run away from the hustle of works and problems; however, it can help us face them and our fears as well. Whether we travel independently or as part of a group, we are actually stepping into a completely new world that may be out of our comfort zone. Perhaps we’ve never travelled alone before and it somehow makes us feel petrified. But once the plunge has been taken, we’ll probably be surprised of how it turned out. The chances are we will find a confidence we never knew we had. Take the opportunity of travelling while you still can. As Diana would say “Get uncomfortable!” – travel with life and you’ll definitely come back a better person than you were before.
